Julia Roberts' beauty secrets

Julia Roberts
She looks stunning onscreen and off, so we asked Julia Roberts, our longest-serving presenter, for her beauty secrets.

Could you run us through your skincare routine?

I cleanse, tone and moisturise morning and evening. I have four or five favourite beauty brands and I try different products within them.

"Never go to bed in your make-up"

How has your skincare routine changed?

I discovered exfoliation 8 years ago and now I exfoliate my face and body regularly. It leaves my skin feeling great and it's particularly important as you get older. I've also added firming feeling things like the Decleor peel-off mask, which leaves my skin feeling fresh and tighter. Primer under foundation is a great trick, Smashbox primer gives you a smooth surface for applying foundation, so it doesn't sink into any lines you might have. I also use Gale Hayman eye gel everyday. Generally, when I see that my skin needs something different, I'll make a change to my routine.

Do you have any beauty secrets you'd like to reveal?

Never go to bed in your make-up, I've never done it and it's helped my skin to stay looking good. You should also never use soap and water to wash your face.

"I can still do the splits"

You're a fan of pilates, how has that helped you?

I'm in better shape than I was 10 years ago and I try to do pilates two to three times a week. I do it at home with a machine and I use a ball for abs. I've been a dancer and taught fitness classes, but pilates has given me a strong core and kept me supple - I can still do the splits. I like pilates because I don't want to look muscly, instead it gives me long lean muscles.

You get to try lots of beauty products as a presenter, have you become a beauty addict?

I've always been interested in skincare and started using good products when I was 14. Since joining QVC I've been using salon-quality brands and they've made a big difference. My skin would not look as good as it does without them.
